The Muntinlupa court ordered Darryl Yap and his team to remove the teaser and other promotional materials for his film, “The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma.” According to a report by Nimfa Ravelo of Super Radyo dzBB, Muntinlupa RTC Branch 205 approved the petition for a writ of habeas data filed by Vic Sotto earlier this week.

 

“May utos na po ang korte sa writ of habeas data na ito ay lumalabag sa karapatan ng ating kliyente kung kaya’t pansamantala ay grinant ang habeas data,” said Atty. Enrique Dela Cruz, Sotto’s lawyer, in the same report. It’s worth noting that Vic Sotto’s name was specifically mentioned and accused of rape in the teaser for the movie. According to the report, Yap was prohibited from further distributing all promotional materials for the said movie. The RTC ordered him to take down everything that was already uploaded on social media. Additionally, the court has also prohibited the further sharing of the involved social media posts.

Vic Sotto’s name was mentioned in the controversial teaser of the film, which claims that Pepsi Paloma filed a case against him in 1982. Darryl Yap stated that he is unsure if he will apologize to Vic Sotto and emphasized that his movie aims to tell the truth. There is no official response yet from Yap’s camp regarding the complaint, but he shared the news on his Facebook account.
